1963 National League All-Star Team-Signed Ball - 13 Hall of Famers Including Clemente
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $2,400
Official National League (Giles) ball signed in blue or black ink by the following twenty-nine members of the 1963 National League All-Star team: Aaron, Bailey, Bauman (trainer), Boyer (sweet spot), Cepeda, Clemente, Culp, Dark (stamped signature, Mgr., sweet spot), Drysdale, Edwards, Groat, Jackson, Javier, Kennedy (coach), Koufax, Marichal, Mays, McCovey, Musial, O'Toole, Santo, Snider, Spahn, Torre, Westrum, White, Wills, Woodeschick, and one other (illegible). The year, “1963,” is written on the ball label in vintage green ink. Nr-Mt. Ten of the signatures display some very minor bleeding; otherwise they range from "8" to "10," averaging "9." Nr-Mt condition. This is an outstanding National League All-Star team signed ball, featuring thirteen Hall of Famers, and both its condition and completeness (it's missing the signatures of only two players: Tommy Davis and Bill Mazeroski) are related to its impressive provenance. This ball originates from the personal collection of Bob Bauman, who was a longtime Major League trainer with both the St. Louis Browns (1937-1953) and St. Louis Cardinals (1954-1988). The ball, along with eighty-three other team balls from Bauman's collection, was originally consigned by the Bauman family to REA's May 2010 auction, where it was offered as part of a larger lot. It has been consigned to this auction by the original purchaser. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,400
