Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $960
Constitution of the "Asociacion Nacional de Peloreros Profesionales de Cuba." This twelve-page typed document, written in Spanish, formulates the rules and regulations of the organization, including a listing of its objectives and the various positions and functions of its governing body. This document, which is undated and typed on onionskin, appears to be a finalized draft, as each page is initialed and the front page is signed in various inks by fifteen association officials, including Orestes Minoso (president), Willy Miranda (vice president), Angel Scull, Evelio Hernandez, Camilo Pascual, Francisco Herrera, and Juan Delis. Each page displays a circular stamp that is lettered "Gobierno Provencial Revolucionario Habana - Republica de Cuba." The Asociacion Nacional de Peloreros Profesionales de Cuba was the governing body of professional baseball in Cuba during the 1950s and early 1960s. In March 1961 Castro abolished professional baseball in Cuba. As a result, many of the players became exiles in the United States or in other Latin American countries. Each page of the document (8.5 x 13 inches) displays one vertical and three horizontal folds, as well as staple holes in the upper left corner and minor edge tears and creases. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $960
