Red-stitched ball (no manufacturer stampings) signed in blue ink by twenty-one individuals, nearly all of whom once played for the New York Yankees. The eighteen Yankee signatures on this ball are those of Joe DiMaggio (one sweet spot), Leo Durocher (opposite sweet spot), Frank Baker, Lefty Gomez, Earle Combs, Allie Reynolds, Wilcy Moore, Red Rolfe, George Stirnweiss, Charlie Keller, Spud Chandler (on sweet spot with Durocher), Bob Shawkey, Joe Dugan, Benny Bengough, Tommy Henrich, Marius Russo, Hank Borowy, and Buddy Hassett, The three non-Yankee signatures are those of Jimmie Dykes, Johnny Mostil (twice, once on the sweet spot with DiMaggio), and Monty Stratton. The signatures are all strong and fairly uniform in grade, averaging "9." The ball displays a few areas of light discoloration and is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $720
