Circa Early 1970s Multisigned Hall of Fame Ball
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $840
Official American League (Cronin) ball signed in blue ink by the following nineteen Hall of Fame players: Medwick (sweet spot), Boudreau (sweet spot), Combs, Gehringer, Frisch, Haines (twice), Feller, Cronin, L. Waner, Marquard, Stengel, Gomez, Wynn, Giles, Hafey, Grove, Leonard, Hoyt, and Coveleski. All of the signatures are fairly uniform in grade, averaging "9/10," with the exception of Giles ("4," black ink). This ball was most likely obtained at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony during the early 1970s, possibly in 1972, because the only player represented here that was inducted into the Hall of Fame after that year was Warren Giles (1979). (The fact that Giles' signature is in a different ink than all of the others might indicate that it was obtained at a later date, after he was inducted into the Hall, although it is also very possible, perhaps even more likely, that he attended the ceremonies and signed in 1972.) The ball displays a few small, scattered areas of moderate age toning and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $840
