Circa 1950s Cleveland Indians Team-Signed Ball with Tris Speaker and Hank Greenberg
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $480
This unusual signed ball appears to feature the signatures of Cleveland Indians players who were with the club during the late 1940s and 1950s, plus the signatures of Hall of Fame outfielder Tris Speaker (who was player/manager of Cleveland in the 1920s) and Hall of Fame first baseman Hank Greenberg (who was Cleveland's general manager from 1950 to 1957). The official National League (Giles) ball has been signed in either blue or black ink by thirty-four individuals, including Tris Speaker, Hank Greenberg (on ball label), Larry Doby, Al Lopez (Mgr., sweet spot), Early Wynn, Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Dale Mitchell, Ken Keltner, Ray Narleski, Bob Hooper, Hal Naragon, Dave Philley, Jim Hegan, Vic Wertz, Al Rosen, and Don Mossi. Signatures range from "1" to "10," averaging "5/6." Although the manufacturer's stampings are partially obscured by the signatures, the ball appears to date from the 1952-1957 production period. The ball is moderately soiled and has been coated with a layer of protective shellac. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $480
