1953 American League All-Star Team-Signed Ball with Mantle and Paige

Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in blue ink by the following thirty members of the 1953 American League All-Star team: Bauer, Berra, Boudreau (coach), Carrasquel, Doby, Fain, Fox, Garcia, Goodman, Harder, Hunter (clubhouse), Kell, Kuenn, Lemon, Mantle, Minoso, Mize (sweet spot), Paige, Pierce, Rizzuto, Robinson, Rosen, Sain, Stengel (Mgr.), Susce (coach), Turner (coach), Vernon, White, Zernial, and one other illegible. The vintage blue ink notation “NL-5 AL-1 '53 All Star Game” appears on the sweet spot. The signatures range in grade from "7" to "10," averaging "8/9," with exception of Gus Zernial (heavy bleeding). The ball displays light overall toning and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. This ball originates from the personal collection of Bob Bauman, who was a longtime Major League trainer with both the St. Louis Browns (1937-1953) and St. Louis Cardinals (1954-1988). The ball, along with eighty-three other team balls from Bauman's collection, was originally consigned by the Bauman family to REA's May 2010 auction, where it was offered as part of a larger lot.
