Outstanding Satchel Paige Single-Signed Baseball - PSA/DNA NM 7
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,300
Official American League (MacPhail) ball signed by legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige in black ink across the sweet spot. Graded NM 7 by PSA/DNA (both the signature and ball have been graded 7, resulting in its final overall grade of 7). The legend of Satchel Paige, both as a player and as a folk hero, transcends the game of baseball, making a high-quality single-signed baseball such as this extremely desirable to many types of collectors. Paige was the first Negro League player to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, in 1971. Based upon the manufacturing stampings, this ball dates specifically to the year 1980, meaning it was signed shortly before Paige's death in 1982. Paige singles have always been in high demand, with high-grade examples such as this the rare exception rather than the rule. The ball remains housed in its original PSA/DNA holder (seal broken). Full LOA from PSA/DNA and full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++. SOLD FOR $3,300
