1937 Boston Red Sox Team-Signed Ball with Foxx and Yawkey
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,320
This 1937 Boston Red Sox team ball is especially notable for the exceptional Jimmie Foxx signature on the sweet spot. The official American League (Harridge) ball has been signed in black fountain pen by the following eighteen members of the club: Foxx (sweet spot; a few abrasions touch upon the signature, otherwise it grades "9/10"), Yawkey (team owner), Grove, Pennock (coach), Doerr, Gaffke, McKain, Dallessandro, Mills, Marcum, Desautels, Ostermuller, Miller (coach), Higgins, Wilson, Walberg, Melillo, and one other (illegible). The Joe Cronin signature on the ball has been deemed to be a clubhouse version by JSA. Signatures range from "5" to "9," averaging "7." The ball has been coated with a thin layer of protective shellac, to which there are a number of moderate abrasions (many touching upon the signatures). A mounting hole is displayed on the ball label. In Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,320
