Circa 1930 Babe Ruth Single-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $7,200
Official American League ball signed by Babe Ruth on a side panel. Ruth's signature has been scripted in black fountain pen and grades "6." Although much of the manufacturer's stampings are obscured or faded beyond legibility, what does remain allows us to date the ball to the general 1927 to 1933 manufacturing period (red-and-blue stitched ball with "Warranted The Cushioned Cork Center 9 IN. 5 OZ." stamped on the bottom panel). Ideally, that time period corresponds to the Yankees' legendary "Murderers' Row" World Championship dynasty of 1927-1928, as well as the club's 1932 World Championship season. The ball is darkly toned, with numerous small abrasions, a few of which touch upon the signature. In Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $7,200
