Hughie Jennings Original Conlon Photo and T3 Card in Framed Display
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,200
This attractive wall display is comprised of an original Charles Conlon photo of Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings matted opposite Jennings' 1911 T3 Turkey Red card. Ideally, both the photo and card picture Jennings in an identical pose: in the midst of his famous "EEE YAA" battle cry while on the coaching lines as manager of the Detroit Tigers. The photo (8 x 10 inches) features Conlon's proprietary stamp on the reverse (reading "Charles M. Conlon/Photographer for/Spalding's Guide/and/Baseball Magazine"), as well as his handwritten pencil notation that reads in part "Conlon/Hughie Jennings/Died 1928." Although undated, the uniform style worn by Jennings corresponds to the 1908-1912 time period. The photo has a tack hole in each corner and a number of light surface wrinkles, none of which detracts from its overall Excellent appearance. The T3 card (#18) displays a few small chips and tiny stains along the border areas. Technically in Good condition, but, like the photo, one that has an Excellent appearance within the context of the display. Total dimensions: 19 x 15 inches. Please note: photocopies of the reverse for each piece accompany the display. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,200
