1910-1923 Baseball Book Collection (6) Including Five Different "Matty Books"

Collection of six vintage hardcover baseball books, all of which are authored by former major league stars. Five are from the highly popular series of children's books written by Hall of Fame pitcher Christy Mathewson (referred to as "The "Matty Books"), while the other is written by New York Yankees star shortstop Everett Scott. 1) Won in the Ninth by Christy Mathewson (R. J. Bodmer Company, New York, 1910). Fr-Gd, with heavily worn covers, ink touch-ups on the front cover, partial separation along the spine, a few missing pages at the back of the book, and the name of a former owner written in ink on the front flyleaf. 2) Pitching in a Pinch by Christy Mathewson (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1912). Every Boy's Library - Boy Scout Edition. Gd-Vg, with general wear to the covers, minor staining along the spine, a tear to the McGraw illustration, and the name of a former owner on the front flyleaf. 3) Pitcher Pollock by Christy Mathewson (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1914). Gd-Vg, with general wear to the covers, two minor stains on the spine, partial separation along the spine, and the name of a former owner written on the front flyleaf. 4) First Base Faulkner by Christy Mathewson (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1916). Vg, with general wear and a used-book store price on the front flyleaf. 5) Second Base Sloan by Christy Mathewson (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1917). Gd-Vg, with moderate creasing to the front cover and a used-book store price on the front flyleaf. 6) Third Base Thatcher by Everett Scott (Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1923).
