1962 Statistic Back Exhibits Complete Set (32) Including Roger Maris Signed Card

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,080

Addendum: The signature of Yogi Berra has been deemed secretarial by JSA.

Complete 32-card set of 1962 Statistic Back Exhibits, highlighted by the inclusion of a beautifully signed example of Roger Maris. These unnumbered black-and-white cards were issued on thick cardboard and have the player's statistics printed in black on the reverse. These cards are extremely bright, fresh, and attractive. From an old-time collection, this set has been carefully stored away for many years. The set ranges in grade from Ex to Nr/Mt overall (with three Vg-Ex) and is highlighted by many of the great stars of the era, including Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and Stan Musial. In addition to the signed Maris (blue ink, grading "9"), Pappas (blue ink, grading "8") is also signed (the card of Berra appears to be signed, but has been deemed secretarial by JSA). The Statistic Back Exhibit card sets (they were issued in 1963 also) are among the most interesting and overlooked sets of the early 1960s, an era in which competition in the card manufacturing world spurred innovation among all card companies, prompting the Exhibit Supply Company to add statistic backs. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 32 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
