1968 Topps #247 Johnny Bench Rookie SGC MINT 96
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,400
Graded MINT 96 by SGC (submitted by REA). Only two examples grade higher out of an incredible 826 cards evaluated by SGC to date! This is an extraordinary ultra high-grade rookie example of Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench, one of the keys to the 1968 Topps set. This card was pulled by REA from an extraordinary original-owner collection, where it had been stored carefully for more than forty years. The 1968 Topps set is prone to many different problems, including centering issues and print quality. This card is virtually flawless in all respects, and to our eye appears GEM MINT. The centering is virtually perfect. All four corners are razor-sharp. The colors are vibrant and the print quality is absolutely flawless. This card would be at home in any world-class Hall of Fame or rookie-card collection and would be a significant upgrade to any complete set. This is a spectacular ultra high-grade example of one of modern card collecting's most popular rookie cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $2,400
