Ultra High-Grade 1968 Topps Complete Set (598)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $13,200

Exceptional ultra high-grade set! Grades 63% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt/Mt (including many Mint) and 37% Ex to Ex-Mt (entirely due to centering). Even the cards graded Ex to Ex-Mt present bright and crisp, consistent with the balance of the set. Highlighted by the rookie cards of HOFers Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench, the 1968 Topps set also includes the extremely popular “combo” cards featuring more than one player, with #480 Superstars (with Roberto Clemente), #490 Superstars (Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays), and #530 Bird Belters (Frank and Brooks Robinson). This is an extremely clean and overall high-grade set consigned from an old-time collection! We have selected seven cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #20 B. Robinson (Ex-Mt), 45 Seaver (Ex-Mt), 50 Mays (5/95 L/R, otherwise Nr/Mt+), 80 Carew (Ex-Mt), 100 Gibson (Ex+), 110 Aaron (NM/MT+ 92), 150 Clemente (Ex-Mt+), 177 Ryan RC (NM 84), 230 Rose (Ex-Mt), 240 Kaline (Nr/Mt-Mt), 247 Bench RC (NM 84), 250 Yastrzemski (Nr/Mt-Mt), 280 Mantle (NM/MT 88), 330 Maris (Nr/Mt-Mt), 355 Banks (MINT 96), 480 Manager's Dream (NM/MT 88), 490 Superstars (EX/NM 80), 500 F. Robinson (Nr/Mt+), 520 Brock (Nr/Mt-Mt), 528 Tigers (Ex+), 530 Bird Belters (Ex), and 575 Palmer (Nr/Mt-Mt). Very sharp, clean, and crisp complete set with the usual number of mostly minor centering problems. This is a beautiful set with many highlights! The equivalent SMR value of just the seven graded cards (factoring in the one half-grade at the lower whole-grade level and not including the 591 ungraded cards!) is $1,885. Total: 598 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $13,200
