1964 Topps Near-Complete Set (547/587)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $8,400

43% Nr/Mt or better, 40% Ex-Mt, and 17% Ex. Fresh, crisp, extremely consistent, high-grade near-complete set of 1964 Topps. Missing only forty cards for completion. The 1964 Topps set is loaded with stars and Hall of Famers of the era, and also includes several extremely popular multiplayer cards featuring great legends of the early 1960s. Consigned by the family of an old-time collector, this set has been carefully stored away for decades and was very likely assembled directly out of packs in the year of issue. This is a beautiful set with many high-grade cards! We have selected six cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #35 Mathews (miscut, otherwise Ex-Mt+), 50 Mantle (EX/NM 80), 55 Banks (Ex-Mt), 120 Drysdale (Nr/Mt), 125 Rose (Ex), 150 Mays (EX/NM+ 82), 155 Snider (Ex), 177 Killebrew (Nr/Mt), 200 Koufax (NM 84), 210 Yastrzemski (Nr/Mt), 225 Maris (no right border, otherwise Nr/Mt), 230 B. Robinson (Nr/Mt+), 250 Kaline (Nr/Mt), 300 Aaron (NM+ 86), 306 Mays/Cepeda (Ex-Mt), 331 AL Bombers Mantle/Maris (NM 84), 342 Stargell (Nr/Mt+), 350 McCovey (Nr/Mt+), 380 Ford (Nr/Mt+), 423 Aaron/Mays (EX/NM 80), 460 Gibson (Nr/Mt-Mt), and 541 Niekro RC (Ex). Missing the following cards for completion: #18, 21 Berra, 22, 64, 68, 74, 80, 101, 103, 105, 113, 137, 139, 146 John, 173, 182, 183, 194, 209, 211, 216, 234, 239, 245, 251, 252, 258, 260 F. Robinson, 262, 275, 304, 323, 358, 378, 400 Spahn, 440 Clemente, 513, 522, and 582. All cards are bright and fresh, appearing to have been pulled straight out of packs, with centering the only noticeable fault on many of the lesser-graded cards. Extremely sharp, high-grade, uncommonly strong set of this 1960s Topps issue. The equivalent SMR value for the six graded cards (factoring in the two half-grades at the lower whole-grade level and not including the 542 ungraded cards) is $662. Total: 547 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $8,400
