1962 Topps Complete Set (598)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,400

27% Ex-Mt or better, 54% Ex, and 19% Vg-Ex (including some Vg). The 1962 Topps set has a well-deserved reputation for being the era's most condition-sensitive issue. The flush-to-the-border brown wood-grain design of the 1962 Topps set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade complete set of this classic set, which includes all the great stars of the era. Keys: #1 Maris (Vg+), 5 Koufax (no top border, slight miscut, otherwise Ex), 10 Clemente (Ex-Mt), 18 Manager's Dream (Vg-Ex), 25 Banks (Ex), 30 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 45 B. Robinson (Ex-Mt), 50 Musial (no top border, otherwise Ex-Mt), 53 AL HR LDRS (Ex), 100 Spahn (Ex-Mt), 140 Gehrig/Ruth (Ex), 150 Kaline (Ex), 199 Perry RC (Ex+), 200 Mantle (Vg+), 300 Mays (Vg-Ex), 310 Ford (Ex-Mt), 313 Maris Blast (Ex-Mt), 318 Mantle Switch Hitter (Ex-Mt), 320 Aaron (Vg-Ex+), 340 Drysdale (Ex-Mt+), 350 F. Robinson (Vg+), 360 Berra (Ex+), 387 Brock RC (Ex), 394 Aaron AS (Ex+), 395 Mays AS (Ex), 401 Maris/Cepeda (Ex), 425 Yastrzemski (no left border, otherwise Ex), 471 Mantle AS (no left border, otherwise Ex-Mt), 500 Snider (Ex-Mt+), 530 Gibson (Ex-Mt), 544 McCovey (Vg), 545 Wilhelm (1/99 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), 575 Schoendienst (98/2 L/R, otherwise Ex+), 592 Bouton RC (Ex+), 594 Uecker RC (Ex), 596 Pepitone RC (Ex+), and 598 Hickman RC (Vg-Ex+). Also included are two variations (#147 and 174). Affordable mid- to high-grade complete sets such as this are always extremely popular when available, as they represent such a tremendous collecting value. Total: 600 cards (complete set of 598 plus 2 variations). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,400
