1962 Topps Near-Complete Master Set (598 Cards Plus 93 Variations)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,600

41% Ex-Mt or better, 47% Ex, 8% Vg-Ex, and 4% lesser (mostly Vg). Presented is an extremely attractive and consistent complete set of 1962 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all baseball-card sets, plus ninety-three variations, which makes this a near-complete master set with a total of 691 cards! The 1962 Topps set has a well-deserved reputation for being the era's most condition-sensitive issue. The flush-to-the-border brown wood-grain design of the 1962 Topps set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. It is rare to find a complete set offered with almost all of the variations, which include pose variations, checklist variations, and "green tints" from the second series. Thirteen cards are graded by PSA. Keys: #1 Maris (EX 5), 5 Koufax (EX-MT 6), 10 Clemente (EX 5), 18 Mantle/Mays (EX-MT 6), 25 Banks (EX-MT 6), 30 Mathews (Ex+), 45 Robinson (Vg-Ex), 50 Musial (Ex), 53 Maris/Mantle LL (color added at the corners, otherwise Ex), 100 Spahn (ink on reverse, otherwise Ex), 150 Kaline (Ex), 199 Perry (EX-MT 6), 200 Mantle (EX-MT 6), 251 Yankees (Ex+), 300 Mays (EX-MT 6), 310 Ford (Ex-Mt), 313 Maris IA (Ex+), 318 Mantle IA (Ex), 320 Aaron (Ex+), 340 Drysdale (Ex-Mt), 350 Robinson (EX 5), 360 Berra (Vg-Ex+), 387 Brock (EX-MT 6), 394 Aaron AS (Vg-Ex+), 395 Mays AS (Ex+), 401 Maris/Cepeda (Ex), 425 Yastrzemski (Ex+), 471 Mantle AS (EX-MT 6), 500 Snider (Vg-Ex+), 530 Gibson SP (NM 7), 544 McCovey SP (NM 7), 575 Schoendienst SP (Vg-Ex), 592 Bouton (Vg-Ex+), 594 Uecker (Vg-Ex+), 596 Pepitone (Ex+), and 598 Hickman (Vg). An outstanding near-complete master set of this classic early Topps issue. The total SMR value for just the thirteen graded cards is $1,245. Total: 691 cards (set of 598 plus 93 variations). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,600
