1963 Fleer Complete Set (66)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600
Complete 66-card set of 1963 Fleer cards. The 1963 Fleer set is considered by many to be among the most attractive as well as significant issues of the early 1960s. These cards have long been a special favorite of collectors, and with good reason: They are far rarer than Topps issues from the era; they are unusual; they have a great significance to the history of the "bubble-gum card wars"; and the set is relatively small and includes so many great stars from the golden era of the early 1960s. The fact that the set is very challenging to collect in high grade, and has a rare checklist card which is extremely difficult to find in high grade, gives this set a mystique and all-the-greater appeal to serious collectors. 1963 Fleer is never going out of style with advanced collectors. This is one of the premier sets of the 1960s. The offered set presents beautifully as Ex to Nr/Mt (with a few technically lesser due to centering), but all cards have a tiny impression in one or two corners from resting in corner mounts, which causes them to technically grade Ex. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #4 B. Robinson (Ex), 5 Mays (EX 60), 8 Yastrzemski (Ex+), 41 Drysdale (EX 60), 42 Koufax (EX 60), 43 Wills RC (Ex), 45 Spahn (Ex), 46 Adcock (Vg-Ex+), 56 Clemente (Ex), 59 Mazeroski (Ex+), 61 Gibson (Vg-Ex+), and 64 Cepeda (Ex+). Very crisp, sharp, attractive complete set of this extremely popular and scarce early 1960s issue. The equivalent SMR value for just the three graded cards (not including the sixty-four ungraded cards) is $630. Total: 66 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $600
