1953 to 1973 Bowman and Topps SGC-Graded Hall of Fame Collection (20)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,100
Outstanding collection of twenty extremely attractive cards of Hall of Famers (and major star Roger Maris) dating from 1953 to 1973, from thirteen different Topps sets. Every card is a highlight! Includes cards of Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, and Ted Williams. These are all extremely sharp examples of classics, purchased by our consignor in the days prior to professional grading and at the time described as Nr/Mt-Mt. While the professional grading standards have changed over the years, it is clear that this group was assembled with an eye for quality and condition. We have submitted all the cards to SGC for grading and encapsulation (except for two cards that were already graded by PSA). 1) 1953 Bowman Color: #121 Yogi Berra (EX+ 70). 2) 1954 Bowman: #90 Roy Campanella (EX/NM 80). 3-4) 1954 Topps: #10 Jackie Robinson (NM 84) and Ernie Banks RC (EX 60). 5-10) 1956 Topps: #30 Jackie Robinson (EX/NM 80, white back), two 33 Roberto Clemente (EX/NM+ 82 and EX/NM 80, both gray back), 101 Roy Campanella (NM 84, gray back), 130 Willie Mays ("Authentic," due to evidence of trimming, otherwise Ex+), and 135 Mickey Mantle (VG/EX+ 55, gray back). 11) 1957 Topps: #1 Ted Williams (EX/NM 80). 12) 1958 Topps: #47 Roger Maris RC (EX 60). 13) 1959 Topps: #380 Hank Aaron (EX/NM 80). 14-15) 1960 Topps: #326 Bob Clemente (NM/MT 88) and 350 Mickey Mantle ("Authentic," otherwise Nr/Mt). 16) 1961 Topps: #150 Willie Mays (NM 84). 17) 1962 Topps: #320 Hank Aaron (EX/NM 80). 18) 1967 Topps: #569 Rod Carew RC ("Authentic," otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt). 19) 1968 O-Pee-Chee: #45 Tom Seaver (PSA NM-MT 8). 20) 1973 Topps: #615 Mike Schmidt RC (PSA NM 7).
