1950 Bowman Collection (28) with Seven Hall of Famers Including Jackie Robinson
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720
Presented is a collection of twenty-eight cards from the 1950 Bowman baseball set, highlighted by seven Hall of Famers, including Jackie Robinson. This collection was consigned by the family of the original owner and was presented to us (along with groups of 1948 Leaf, and 1948 and 1949 Bowman cards, which appear elsewhere in the auction) housed carefully in a vintage album, carefully held in place by corner mounts. It is clear from their condition that these cards were enjoyed by a youngster prior to residing in this album, but their preservation in this manner for many decades undoubtedly helped preserve their bold color, which contributes to the overall excellent visual appeal of this collection. Overall condition is 50% Vg-Ex (including a few Ex), 35% Vg, and 15% lesser. We have selected two cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. This collection consists of the following: #2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Feller (HOF, EX+ 70), 9, two 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19 Spahn (Vg+), 20, two 21 Reese (HOF, Vg and Fr), 22 Robinson (HOF, EX 60), 23, 24, 27, two 28, 30, 31, 33 Kiner (HOF, Ex), 34, 35 Slaughter (HOF, Vg), and 36. This is a small but desirable collection of cards from this classic Bowman issue with several highlights. The equivalent SMR value for just the two graded cards is $560. Total: 28 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $720
