1951 Topps Connie Mack's All-Stars SGC-Graded Collection (5)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $960
Offered are five cards from the landmark set issued by Topps in its first year in the baseball-card business featuring Connie Mack’s All-Time team of great players. Because these die-cut cards are designed to stand up by folding back the backgrounds, they are particularly prone to damage and are often found with the backgrounds damaged or completely removed. The nature of their design also means that they often look a lot better than suggested by their technical grades. Three cards are graded and encapsulated by SGC. This collection consists of the following: Mickey Cochrane (part of background detached, otherwise Vg+), Eddie Collins (EX 60), James Collins (partly detached, otherwise Gd), and two Honus Wagner (VG/EX 50 and VG 40). 1951 Topps Connie Mack's All-Stars have always been recognized as one of the rarest, most significant, and most condition-sensitive of all postwar card issues. This is a very attractive medium-grade collection of cards from this milestone Topps issue. Total: 5 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $960
