1887 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinet Cap Anson

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,200

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very pleasing medium-grade example of Cap Anson from the N173 Old Judge cabinet series. The N173 Anson is one of the most impressive of all Cap Anson cards, and one of the most sought-after of all nineteenth-century cards. The photograph is a little light, a characteristic which is common to most N173 Anson cabinets, and has a few surface marks to the right of Anson's head. The mount has some corner and edge wear. The blank reverse reveals evidence of light foxing. Technically in Good condition, it has great appeal as a relatively affordable alternative to a higher-grade example of this nineteenth-century classic. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000.
