The 1886 "Brown's Champions" set has always been among the most distinctive and popular of all N172 Old Judges. Each card from this highly sought-after Old Judge subset features portraits of players from this legendary championship team. Presented is a near-complete set of twelve scarce N172 "Brown's Champions" (also known as "Brownie Champs"), each graded and encapsulated by SGC. Missing only Hall of Famer Commy Comiskey, which appears individually in this auction due to its extreme high grade. SGC Condition Report: Two EX+ 70: Bob Caruthers and Christian Von Der Ahe. One EX 60: Nat Hudson. Three VG/EX 50: Dave Foutz, Will Gleason, and Tip O'Neil. Four VG 40: Doc Bushong, Rudy Kemler, Arlie Latham, and Nick Nicholl. One GOOD 30: Yank Robinson. One FAIR 20: Curt Welsh. This is an extremely impressive complete collection (minus one) of 1886 "Brown's Champions" cards.
