1939 R303-B Goudey Premium Joe DiMaggio

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $360

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Extremely attractive R303-B black-and-white example of one of DiMaggio's most striking and overlooked cards. Issued in 1939 by Goudey Gum, and catalogued R303-B in the American Card Catalog, this large-format (4-3/4 x 7-3/8 inches) set is printed on thin stock and was issued in both black and white, as well as sepia. Joe DiMaggio is the key card from the set. Bright and crisp, with a flawless surface, an outstanding image, and light wear at the four corners. Only a tiny, almost imperceptible wrinkle in the lower right corner keeps this card from grading higher. The card features playing tips on the entirely clean reverse. This is an outstanding example of a very early and significant DiMaggio card, and his very last issued by the legendary Goudey Gum Company. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $360
