1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee SGC-Graded Hall of Fame Pair: Hornsby and Lazzeri
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720
Presented is a very impressive-looking pair of 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee Hall of Famers, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. This pairing consists of #A-117 Tony Lazzeri of the New York Yankees (EX 60) and A-140 Rogers Hornsby of the St. Louis Browns (VG/EX+ 55). Each card presents as Ex-Mt, with crisp images and strong corners, but is downgraded due to tiny surface wrinkles. V300 is a rare, unusual, and very substantial 1930s Canadian issue that is very difficult to find in high grade. These cards are designed with die-cut backgrounds that can be punched out and folded back to allow each card to stand up. Because of the die-cut stand-up design, many V300s are naturally found in damaged condition, and in many cases are found with the die-cut backgrounds entirely lost. High-grade examples tend to be downgraded by grading companies due to very minor factors relating to their die-cut design. The reverse of each card is printed in both English and French. This is an extremely attractive and, for V300s, extremely high-grade pair of desirable Hall of Famers from one of the 1930s rarest and most classic sets. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $720
