1933 R319 Goudey Near-Complete PSA-Graded Set (223/240) Including Ruth and Gehrig

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $14,400

Presented is an outstanding near-complete set of 1933 Goudey Gum, comprised of 223 of the 240 cards in the set. Each card is graded and encapsulated by PSA. This near-complete set is missing three of the four Ruths and one of the two Gehrigs, as well as #106 Lajoie, which naturally makes it far more affordable than if these five cards were included. Highlighted by a VG example of #141 Babe Ruth as well as a very presentable GOOD example of #92 Gehrig, an additional fifty Hall of Famers are also included! Missing just seventeen cards for completion: #11, 15, 53 Ruth, 56 Ruffing, 106 Lajoie, 126, 128 Klein, 149 Ruth, 160 Gehrig, 181 Ruth, 188 Hornsby, 189 Cronin, 214, 222 Gehringer, 227, 228, and 234 Hubbell. The 1933 Goudey set is universally recognized as the single most popular and collected of all 1930s gum issues, and one of the most significant of all prewar baseball-card issues.

This collection of 223 different 1933 Goudey Gum cards features many highlights, including very pleasing examples of Ruth and Gehrig, and represents a tremendous foundation for the assembly of a complete set of this classic 1930s gum-card issue. The grading of 223 cards represents a great expense and makes this near-complete set especially attractive. The total SMR value for just 187 of the cards (not including the thirty-six qualified cards and factoring in the thirty-two half-grades at the lower whole-grade level) is $14,210. Total: 223 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000/$10,000+. SOLD FOR $14,400
