1929 R316 Kashin Publications Babe Ruth PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 - 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $6,000
Graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher out of 118 cards evaluated by PSA to date! Exceptionally attractive and ultra high-grade example of Babe Ruth in a classic batting pose from the R316 Kashin Publications set. Ruth, of course, is the key card to the distinctively designed 101-card R316 set. This is a large card (3.5 x 4.5 inches), which contributes to the extreme rarity of R316s in high grade. Out of 1,719 cards evaluated by PSA to date, only four cards (of any subject) have ever graded an unqualified NM-MT+ or better (three NM-MT+ 8.5s and one MINT 9). To find an example of this quality of even a common player is next to impossible, let alone the key card to the set, Babe Ruth. Perfectly clean, both front and back, with four razor-sharp corners, flawless picture quality, and near-perfect centering. Few cards of Ruth date from the 1920s. Issued during the short window of time between the strip cards of the early 1920s and the colorful bubble-gum cards of the early 1930s, this card has always been appreciated for its powerful image of Ruth. A remarkable ultra high-grade example of this classic Ruth card, worthy of the world's finest Babe Ruth, R316, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500++. SOLD FOR $6,000
