1915 E145 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson SGC VG/EX 50

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $18,000

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Stunning and fresh technically mid-grade factory-set example of the 1915 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson, one of the most sought-after of all Joe Jackson cards. This is an exceptionally strong and superbly attractive Vg-Ex example! It has all the qualities of an Ex-Mint or Near Mint example but has been downgraded due to an extremely tiny, almost imperceptible paper pull on the reverse, which has resulted in the most minute evidence of paper loss on the base of the "p" in the third line of text from the bottom. We had to search a long time to find this as there do not appear to be any creases or wrinkles present on the card (there is a very slight bowing, which is common on thin-stock cards, such as Cracker Jacks). The card is absolutely pristine, crisp, and fresh, both front and back. The red color of the background is particularly deep and bold, and the stock is bright white. Flawless registration, with four sharp corners and centering slightly to the right. This card is obviously from a factory set obtained directly from the company by mail, and was never packaged in a box of Cracker Jacks. This is an ideal example. The card certainly presents at a level far better than suggested by its VG/EX grade and may represent an exceptional value and offer a particularly rare opportunity. This is an extraordinary example of one of card collecting's most classic and popular cards in an extremely desirable grade. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grade is $5,750, which we think is particularly conservative, especially for an example of this caliber. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $18,000
