1921-1923 E220 National Caramel Rogers Hornsby

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $420

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Extremely presentable, modestly graded example of St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby from the E220 National Caramel series. The E220 set is sometimes confused with the American Caramel issues of the early 1920s, but the advertisement for "National Caramel" on the reverse easily identifies the series. E220s are much rarer than most other similarly designed sets of the era (such as E121), and for some reason are rarely seen in anything approaching high grade. The offered card displays several condition flaws, including light creasing and a few small surface chips, but remains a very presentable example of one of the key Hall of Famers from this rare set. An outstanding opportunity to acquire a Hall of Fame sample from this early 1920s caramel issue. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $420
