1922 E121 American Caramel (Series of 120) Babe Ruth - Holding Ball

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,400

Graded VG 40 by SGC (submitted by REA). Presented is a very attractive mid-grade E121 American Caramel card of Babe Ruth. One of several different cards of Ruth in the E121 set, this is one of the all-time classic Babe Ruth cards of the 1920s. Referred to on checklists as the Babe Ruth "Holding Ball" variation, this popular card features Ruth in a two-thirds length pose donning his New York Yankees cap and holding a baseball. Crisp and clean, with even wear to the four corners and near-perfect centering. The reverse is boldly printed and clean. Free of any creases. This card is one of the highlights an original-owner collection of 126 American Caramel cards consigned to this auction. (We have separated out two of the four highlight Ruth cards to be offered individually, with the balance offered as a collection.) This is a very presentable example of this classic Babe Ruth card, which would be a very worthy addition to any high-quality Babe Ruth or prewar-card collection. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,400
