1914 T222 Fatima Cigarettes Rube Marquard
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $480
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Outstanding example of New York Giants Hall of Famer Rube Marquard from the T222 Fatima set issued by the Leggett & Myers Tobacco Company in 1914. These individual-player Fatima cards are much rarer than the T200 Fatima team cards. The thin photographic stock and fragile glossy surface of these unusual real-photo style cards make them especially susceptible to creasing. The offered example is perfectly crisp and clean, with four sharp corners (a tiny bit more wear in the lower right), and outstanding clarity. Free of any creases or wrinkles and downgraded entirely due to the side-to-side centering (approximately 1/99 L/R). Otherwise Excellent condition. The reverse is clean and boldly printed. This is an exceptional sample-card from this distinctive tobacco-card set, which advanced collectors recognize is far rarer than its more widely collected tobacco-card cousins, such as T205 and T206. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $480
