1911 T212 Obak Cigarettes Buck Weaver PSA NM 7 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $8,400

Graded NM 7 by PSA. This is one of only two examples graded at this impressive level with none higher! This is a tremendous example of what is perhaps Buck Weaver's most majestic card: his 1911 T212 Obak Cigarettes card, which pictures him with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League, before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. Buck Weaver, a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox, has reached cult status in the collecting world. His cards routinely sell for more than Hall of Famers from the same sets in which he appears. Unfortunately for collectors, Weaver appears in very few sets. This is an extremely attractive card of Weaver in full uniform posing with his bat on his shoulder. This card is usually found in far lower grade (fourteen of the twenty-one Weaver cards evaluated by PSA to date are graded VG-EX or lower). The card is entirely clean front and back, with a crisp image, flawless colors, centering slightly to the left, and only the tiniest touches of wear to the four strong square corners visible under close inspection. A grade of Near Mint 7 is incredible for a T212 Obak; only eighteen cards (out of 1,077 evaluted by PSA to date) have ever received a higher grade. This is an ultra high-grade and extremely attractive example of this early and important Buck Weaver tobacco card that would be at home in any complete Obak set or world-class classic-card collection. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $8,400
