1909 T212 Obak Cigarettes Byrnes SGC NM 84 - 1 of 1 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $420
Graded NM 84 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Exceptional ultra high-grade example of Byrnes from the 1909 T212 Obak set. While catalogued simply as T212, Obaks were actually issued over a period of three years, from 1909 to 1911, and are really three sets. The 76-card 1909 set is the first of the three annual T212 baseball cards from Obak Cigarettes and are by far the rarest of the three Obak sets. They are easily distinguished by the blue printing in an “Old English” font on their backs. The Near Mint grade is especially impressive for a 1909 Obak card as only thirteen cards, of any subject, have ever been graded Near Mint, with none higher, out of 812 cards evaluated by SGC to date. The offered example is bright, crisp, and clean, both front and back, with superb colors, sharp corners, and centering to the left. Boldly printed reverse. This is an exceptional card, worthy of its incredible high grade, and one of the finest examples of a T212 Obak in existence. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $420
