1909-1911 T206 White Border Bill Dahlen - Brooklyn - Sovereign Back!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $480

Extremely attractive, modestly graded example of Bill Dahlen (Brooklyn variation) from the classic T206 White Border set featuring a desirable Sovereign 350 advertising reverse. Sovereign is a scarce back, not in the same league as Drum or Uzit, but very unusual and seen far less often the standard Piedmont or Sweet Caporal advertising backs. Dahlen was a significant star for twenty-one Major League seasons, and is one of the few players in the T206 set not in the Hall of Fame who has always widely been considered worthy of that honor. In addition, since the days of Jefferson Burdick and before, the Dahlen, Brooklyn team-designation variation, has always been recognized as one of the important rarities of the T206 set. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA, the offered example presents with a crisp, flawless image, strong corners, and centering slightly to the top. The reverse is boldly printed and displays adhesive residue, likely being housed in an album at some point in time, which contributes to the modest assigned grade. In addition to being an important card in the T206 set, this card is also especially appreciated for its strong visual appeal. This is an outstanding and relatively affordable example of this T206 rarity, worthy of any complete set or prewar-card collection.  Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $480
