1909-1911 T206 White Border Bill O'Hara - St. Louis Americans Variation
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,800
Offered is the rare O'Hara card from the T206 set, a significant variation rarity from the popular T206 White Border series. O'Hara, St. Louis Americans is one of the rarest cards in the set, and is usually among the very last cards (not including "The Big Four") required by collectors to complete the T206 set. This card has been always recognized as a great rarity, since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out O'Hara and Demmitt, the other St. Louis variation in the set, along with Wagner, Plank, and Magie, as significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog.) Graded VG-EX 4 (MK) by PSA, this is an exceptionally attractive example that presents with bold colors, flawless registration, perfect centering, and light, even wear to the four corners. The extremely faint remnant of the number "49" written in the upper right corner is responsible for the qualifier, although it is not immediately noticeable and does not detract from the overall visual appeal. This example is a beautiful card, far better than normally seen, and will be especially desirable to many collectors as it presents a relatively affordable opportunity to acquire an exceptional high-quality example of one of the legendary T206 rarities. This variation costs a fortune in higher grade! This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire an example of this key T206 rarity which shares all the qualities of a higher-grade example but is available at a fraction of the cost. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $1,800
