1909-1911 T206 White Border Frank Smith Chicago & Boston PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,600

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Smith, Chicago & Boston Amer. variation. One of only three examples that have ever been graded at this impressive level, with just one higher, out of 224 cards evaluated by PSA to date! Since the days of Jefferson Burdick and before, this team-designation variation has always been recognized as one of the important rarities of the T206 set. This is a remarkably high-grade example. Most T206s, of course, have survived in far lesser condition, and when dealing with any of the few cards in the set with a notable degree of extra rarity, a high-grade example naturally has a special premium value to collectors. The offered card is extremely bright and crisp, and presents a strong and impressive image of Smith. This card has four strong corners, perfect registration, and superb centering. The back is also bright and clean, with bold blue advertising print for Piedmont Cigarettes. In addition to being an important card in the T206 set, this card is also especially appreciated for its strong visual appeal. This is a tremendous, ultra high-grade example of this scarce variation from the legendary White Border series, worthy of the finest T206 set or collection! SMR is $2,000. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,600
