1909-1911 T206 White Border Harry Lumley PSA NM-MT 8 - Sovereign Back - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,200

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Outstanding ultra high-grade example of Harry Lumley (Brooklyn Superbas) from the T206 series featuring the scarce and desirable Sovereign advertising reverse. This is one of only four examples with ANY back ever to be graded at this impressive level by PSA out of 277 cards evaluated to date. It is one of two NM-MT 8 examples of Lumley to feature a Sovereign 150 back. Bright and crisp, with brilliant colors, four sharp corners, and near-flawless registration. Outstanding centering, with particularly full borders. Clean and boldly printed reverse. An ideal specimen that would be noteworthy for its high grade with a more frequently encountered Piedmont or Sweet Caporal reverse, this card becomes all the more significant when one takes into account its uncommon and unusual back. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as the T206 White Borders. The SMR value in the assigned grade is $1,500 with no premium assigned for the back. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,200
