1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders Complete Set (50): #3 PSA Set Registry (6.34 GPA)!
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $11,400
Extraordinary ultra high-grade complete set of 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders (50 cards), all graded and encapsulated by PSA. This is an extremely attractive complete set of this classic tobacco issue! Listed on the PSA Set Registry with an overall GPA of 6.34, this set currently ranks third finest. Incredibly, all fifty cards range in grade from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, with two NM-MT 8s, one NM+ 7.5, eleven NM 7s, five EX-MT+ 6.5s, and thirty-one EX-MT 6s. T201s are so difficult to find in high grade as they are often downgraded due to to minor condition flaws. The thin stock on which T201s are printed makes them especially susceptible to very light corner rounding and surface wrinkles.
In the following condition composite, identifying card numbers are those provided by the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards checklist. The PSA grades are as follows: NM-MT 8 (2 cards): #26 (pop 8, highest graded) and 39 Jennings/Summers (HOF, pop 6, highest graded). NM+ 7.5 (1 card): #30. NM 7 (11 cards): #4, 12 Byrne/Clarke (HOF), 21, 31, 33, 40 Johnson/Street (HOF), 42 Lake/Wallace (HOF), 43, 44, 46 McCarty/McGinnity (HOF), and 48 Payne/Walsh (HOF). EX-MT+ 6.5 (5 cards): #5, 13 Chance/Evers (HOF), 20, 29, and 41. EX-MT 6 (31 cards): #1, 2 Baker/Collins (HOF), 3, 6 Bender/Oldring (HOF), 7 Bergen/Wheat (HOF), 8, 9 Bresnahan/Huggins (HOF), 10 Bridwell/Mathewson (HOF), 11 Brown/Hofman (HOF), 14 Chase/Sweeney, 15 Cicotte/Thoney, 16, 17 Cobb/Crawford (HOF), 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28 Falkenberg/Lajoie (HOF), 32 Gardner/Speaker (HOF), 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 45, 47, 49, and 50.
