1909 E92 Dockman & Sons Cy Young
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,080
Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC (submitted by REA). A rare caramel issue from 1909, Dockman & Sons shares a similar design with several other related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, etc.) from the same era. The offered example of Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young has a brilliant image set against a bright orange background, even wear to the corners, and centering slightly to the top. The back is also bright and clean, with bold black text. Caramel cards in general are much rarer than tobacco cards of the era. Because they were issued with caramels one card per package and sold to children (as opposed to being sold to adults with tobacco), they also tend to survive in a much lower grade. This is an exceptional example of the legendary Cy Young from this popular and classic early twentieth-century candy issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,080
