1909 E92 Dockman & Sons Napoleon Lajoie PSA NM 7 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,040
Graded NM 7 by PSA. Incredible ultra high-grade example of Napoleon Lajoie (Cleveland Naps) from the E92 Dockman & Sons set. One of only two examples graded at this level with none higher out of forty-four cards evaluated by PSA to date! E92 Dockman & Sons is a very scarce caramel issue from 1909 that shares designs with several other closely related candy issues (Croft's Candy, Nadja Caramels, etc.) from the same era. The offered example of Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie is an extremely attractive high-grade example. Bright and crisp, with brilliant colors, four sharp corners, and centering to the left. Clean, boldly printed reverse. Caramel cards in general are much rarer than tobacco cards of the era. Because they were issued with caramels one card per package and sold to children (as opposed to being sold to adults with tobacco), they also tend to survive in a much lower grade. A grade of Near Mint is outstanding for any caramel card, let alone an example of a key Hall of Famer like Nap Lajoie. Approximately five percent of the PSA-graded population of E92 Dockman & Sons cards have received the grade of Near Mint or better. This is a tremendous card in extreme high grade from one of the most popular, elusive, and colorful of all “E” card issues. A worthy addition to any world-class Lajoie, Hall of Fame, or prewar-card collection! Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $2,040
