Pair of California Angels Batting-Practice Jerseys - #44 and #30
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $180
This pair of California Angeles mesh batting-practice jerseys is notable not for the players who wore them, but for the numbers they display: 30 and 44. Those numbers, of course, are famous in Angels' franchise history from having been worn, respectively by Nolan Ryan (#30 from 1972-1979) and Reggie Jackson (#44 from 1982 to 1986). Both jerseys are lettered "Angels" across the front and feature, respectively, the numbers "30" and "44" on the left breast and reverse. All letters are appliquéd in red on navy tackle twill. The number "30" jersey, which is a gray road example, displays a "Rawlings 46" label and flag tag, reading "Set 1 1990," on the left front tail. (Devon White wore number "30" for California in 1990.) The jersey displays light-to-moderate wear, including a number of dark stains on the front. The number "44" jersey, which is a home example, features only a "Rawlings 46" label on the left front tail (most likely dating from the 1990s). The jersey displays light wear. Each of these jerseys was originally obtained directly from the California Angeles and as such, both display a special stamping reading "Purchased From California Angels" on the interior button column. Total: 2 mesh batting-practice jerseys. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $180
