1992 Mark McGwire Signed Pro-Model Bat

Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $360

Rawlings Mark McGwire block-letter model ("256B") bat dating from the 1992 season. The barrel stamping features McGwire's full name and team affiliation ("Oakland A's"), while the knob stampings indicate the model number ("256B"), batch code ("201"), and year code ("92"). The knob displays the notation "33 McGwire" (the number denotes the bat's original weight in ounces) in black ink, and the word "Sack" in black marker. It should be noted that we have never seen or heard of another McGwire pro-model bat displaying the word "Sack" on the knob, which suggests that the offered bat might have used by another player. McGwire has signed the bat in black Sharpie (grading "9/10") on the sweet spot of the barrel. The bat, which is not cracked, displays moderate use along its entire length, including ball marks, rack marks, and pine tar residue on the handle. McGwire batted .268 with 42 home runs and 104 RBI in 1992. He finished his career with 583 home runs and 1,414 RBI. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 32.8 ounces. LOA from James Spence/JSA (for the autograph only). Reserve $100. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $360
