1953 Brooklyn Dodgers Team-Signed Baseball with Campanella and Hodges
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $300
Official National League (Giles) ball signed in blue ink by twenty-one members of the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers, including Campanella, Williams, Reese, Hodges, Erskine, Black, Morgan, Belardi, Walker, Hoak, Gilliam, Furillo, and Wade. The signatures of Robinson, Snider, Shuba, Meyer, Dressen (Mgr., sweet spot), Branca, and Roe have been deemed clubhouse versions by JSA. As many collectors are aware, the practice of clubhouse signatures was particularly common with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the early 1950s. This ball was most likely signed in spring training of 1953, as Don Hoak did not make the club that season and the ball also features the name of "Vic Marano" (no player by that name can be found in the professional ranks at the time). The signatures are all fairly uniform in grade, averaging "8/9." The ball has been coated with a layer of protective shellac and is otherwise in Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $100. Estimate $200+. SOLD FOR $300
