1967 Topps Wacky Packages Die-Cut #38 "Cracked Animals" PSA GOOD 2

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $840

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. "Cracked Animals" is universally recognized as one of the key rarities of the 1967 Wacky Packages Die-Cut series, and of all Topps nonsport issues. Its great rarity has a fascinating explanation and story. When Topps first issued Wacky Packs, it knew it was on firm ground legally, but was naturally concerned about the cost of defending itself against potential legal action taken by any company spoofed by the set. When Topps received cease-and-desist letters regarding the "Cracked Animals" and "Ratz Crackers" Wacky Packs, these two designs were immediately pulled from production. Consequently, each was issued for an extremely short period of time, thus resulting in their great rarity. This is a very presentable example of this significant modern rarity despite its modest assigned grade. The card displays bright colors, outstanding centering, and is downgraded due to a few creases, which are well placed in the dark area of the card and near the perforations so as to not detract from the overall visual appeal. The reverse is clean, with only a small area of glue residue present. This is a relatively affordable example of this legendary key rarity from one the 1960s most popular and historically significant nonsport-card sets. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $840
