1940s-1950s Pin-Ups Exhibit Cards and Blotters Collection (72)
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $420
Extremely attractive collection of arcade Exhibits cards and blotters produced during the 1940s and 1950s featuring pin-up girls. This collection consists of seventy-two items in total: forty-eight arcade cards produced by the Exhibit Supply Co. and twenty-four small blotter cards (each has been cut from a larger ink blotter) featuring artwork by noted pin-up artists Earl Moran (22) and Gil Elvgren (2). The forty-eight arcade cards measure approximately 3-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches and feature sepia-toned pin-up images. Condition is Vg-Ex to Ex overall, with ten lesser. The blotter cards represent the illustration portion of advertising blotters issued circa 1950 and feature brilliant illustrations of pin-up girls with witty sayings relating to the illustration underneath, similar to the Gum, Inc., American Beauties sets or Mutoscope issues of the era. Each measures approximately 3 x 3.75 inches, with a blank, blue reverse (a small number is written in pen on the blank reverses), and the collection presents as Vg to Ex overall, with a few lesser due to light creasing. This is an outstanding collection of pin-up cards! Total: 72 cards. Reserve $100. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $420
