1944 Exhibit Supply Co. Pin-ups Arcade-Card Collection (28)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720
Extremely attractive collection of twenty-eight 1940s Exhibits arcade cards featuring pin-up girls. This collection consists of cards from three very scarce and distinct series: Calendar Girls I (fourteen), Calendar Girls II (ten), and Slick Chicks (poem at bottom, four). These cards feature brilliant illustrations of pin-up girls with witty sayings relating to the illustration underneath and very closely resemble the Mutoscope issues of the era. They are, however, much rarer and are distinguishable from Mutoscopes by the "Litho in U.S.A." line at the bottom of each card. This collection consists of the following: 1) Calendar Girls I: Fourteen cards out of thirty-two in the complete series. Highlighted by "Plenty on the Ball," a particularly tough sports-themed card. Overall condition is Vg-Ex to Ex, with three Vg. 2) Calendar Girls II: Ten cards out of thirty-two in the complete series. Highlighted by "Hit and Miss," a popular baseball-themed card. Overall condition is Vg-Ex to Ex, with two Vg. 3) Slick Chicks: Four cards out of thirty-two in the complete series, each with a poem at the bottom. Consists of "Cute Trick" (Vg-Ex), "Let's Make Up" (Vg+), "So Fully Packed" (Gd), and "What Hoe!" (Vg+). This is an impressive collection of pin-up cards from three very desirable and scarce arcade-card series! Total: 28 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $720
