1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum Near-Complete Set (211/216) Plus Wrapper

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,700

Presented is a near-complete set of 1933 R73 Goudey Indian Gum cards, missing only five cards for completion (#116, 125, 138, 144, and 146). Goudey Indian Gum is one of the most popular and difficult to complete of all the 1930s gum-card issues. Its outstanding color, detailed artwork, and popular subject matter, all contribute to making this set one of nonsport collecting's all-time classics. Advanced collectors are well aware that Indian Gum cards are far more difficult to collect in high grade than baseball cards of the era, in part because they are rarer. Condition is 19% Vg-Ex (including a few Ex), 47% Vg, 23% Gd, and 11% Pr. Also included with this near-complete set is a colorful original wax wrapper presenting as Excellent overall (flattened for display, with natural folds visible). This is an attractive and very consistent near-complete set of one of the most popular, substantial, and desirable of all 1930s gum-card sets. Total: 211 cards and one wrapper. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+++. SOLD FOR $2,700
