1938 The Three Stooges Healthy Wealthy and Dumb Lobby Card

Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $3,900

Lobby card to the 1938 Three Stooges short Healthy Wealthy and Dumb. The plot of this movie, the thirty-first Three Stooges short for Columbia, involved Curly winning a $50,000 first prize in a jingle contest. In typical fashion, the boys proceed to spend the money as fast as they can while checking into a posh suite at the "Costa Plente" hotel. While there (wrecking the place), three gold diggers hear of their newfound fortune and attempt to marry the boys, passing themselves off as three rich widows. Unfortunately, Curly finally realizes that after taxes, his winnings amount to only $4.85, which quickly incites the wrath of their new wives. The card (14 x 10.75 inches) displays four tack holes (one in each corner), a stray pencil mark touching upon Moe's left hand and sleeve, a small area of adhesive residue in the upper left corner, and general corner wear. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $3,900
