1937 The Three Stooges The Sitter Downers Lobby Card
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,920
Lobby card from the 1937 Three Stooges short The Sitter Downers. This was the Stooges' twenty-seventh short for Columbia. In this romp, the boys stage a "sit down" strike in the house of their intended brides, all of whom are sisters, until the father consents to the marriage. All paper from 1930s Stooges films is rare and this example is no exception. This is the first lobby card from this film that we can recall seeing at public auction. The card (14 x 11 inches), which is linen-backed, has benefitted from professional restoration to a small corner chip in the upper left and a tiny pinhole in the bottom border. A light crease is evident in the upper left quadrant. A small tear along the left border has been ameliorated by the linen-backing process. In Very Good condition overall, but Excellent in appearance. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,920
