1936 The Three Stooges Slippery Silks Lobby Card
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $4,800
Rare lobby card to the 1936 Three Stooges short Slippery Silks. This is the only paper we have ever seen from this film, which was the Three Stooges' nineteenth short for Columbia. The plot involved the boys as inept furniture makers who, after destroying a gentleman's priceless antique Chinese cabinet, inherit a dress shop and begin a new career in women's fashion. The film is notable for being the first Three Stooges short to end in an all-out "pie" fight, albeit with cream puffs used as the projectile of choice. The card (14 x 11 inches) displays two staple holes in both the upper left and right corners; otherwise it remains in extraordinary Near Mint condition. Exceptional in all respects and one of the finest Three Stooges lobby cards in our consignor's world-class collection. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,800
